Dissection - (1993) The Somberlain [2006 Reissue Double Discs .flac]

Dissection used to be a big name when it comes to talk about melodic black metal. This was the case during the mid 90s when the band released a couple of quality materials which helped to define Swedish black metal even further. Led by now deceased Jon Nödtveidt, Dissection embarked on a journey complete with sorrowful melancholy amidst carnivorous desire to bring defeat against cosmic forces. This excellent debut had long seen its place on various fans' and enthusiasts personal collection, being one of the best black metal albums to have been released during the glorious era of burgeoning underground scene. Despite having nasty traits, Jon and his team prevailed strongly over their fans despite the fact he was convicted for accessory to murder of a homo Algerian man. He was then subsequently incarcerated but not before releasing Dissection magnificent sophomore effort 'Storm of the Light's Bane' which quickly garnered overwhelmingly positive reviews among die hard fans. As for this debut, the title track itself had been worshipped by many for its mournful atmosphere yet able to create an airburst of sheer brutality unmatched by its lesser peers. Nobody could even begin to comprehend how Jon and his team managed to craft such a beautiful track. Nevertheless, the whole album provided listeners with answers that had long been sought to decipher its unparalleled beauty. This and Storm of the Light's Bane would definitely combine to become Dissection most powerful efforts to date. Alas, Jon committed suicide shortly after the release of Reinkaos, somewhere prior to August 16 2006. Thus, this album served as a memorial vigil to commemorate one of extreme metal most prolific and talented musicians in our degraded world. Jon left us with his music that would forever be immortalised in the hearts and minds of his long time fans. RIP Jon Andreas Nödtveidt (June 28 1975 – August 13 2006).
