Samurai marked the beginning of Ali (ex - Terrarosa) regular stint with XPDC after he took over vocal duties during the Konsert Raksasa Stadium Merdeka tour in 1998. He was well received by most of the crowds despite old fans questioning his ability especially on slower ballad songs. The release of this album was accompanied with stainless steel XPDC pendant and short comic which depicted all four band members as vigilante Samurai warriors. Being a longtime fan of XPDC, I couldn't help but notice how the band sounds akin to Metallica in almost every aspect.
