A side project of Swedish death metal masters Hypocrisy, The Abyss clearly exhibits the darker side of Tägtgren and co. in which they felt cannot be manifested with Hypocrisy. Spawning two albums with this being the second and last in The Abyss discography, Summon the Beast brings forth unparalleled malevolence previously unheard of in Hypocrisy. Further exploring the realms of occult has brought The Abyss closer in lines with any other black metal elites out there. Somehow, its impact is often being overlooked by many.
