While death metal was burgeoning in the States, a visionary Swede embarked on his solo journey to discover what was hot among the Americans during the early 90s. This voyage proved to be fruitful as he would return to his homeland, establishing the now infamous entity known to many as none other than Hypocrisy. Brought to life by the sole survivor of death metal carnage in the US who by now owns the ever notorious Abyss Studio in Sweden, Peter Tägtgren soon became a prolific multi - instrumentalist and record producer, working with numerous extreme metal bands that needed a helping hand in his studio. Abducted was the band's fourth album which marked Hypocrisy's transition into leaning towards melodic death metal as opposed to their stripped down traditional sound. An alternate version of Roswell 47 appeared on Nuclear Blast compilation Death is Just the Beginning IV. They have now abandoned the Satanic fervor in favor of X-Files friendly topics such as the extra terrestrial, aliens, science fiction and human conflict. This album simply slays with its unparalleled ferocity and creative manipulation of otherworldly melody. Old fans would know this beforehand but for newcomers (or poseurs as some preferred to call it), this is one of their essential albums in your collection.
